Roohi is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film directed by Hardik Mehta and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films. Bollywood hasn’t tried so many films in the horror comedy genre. Bhool bhulaiyaa and Stree are the successful films from the industry in the genre.

The story of the film revolves around Bhawra and Kattanni, who are instructed by their boss to abduct Roohi. However, the story paces up when they find out Roohi is possessed by a witch but film loses it’s momentum & despite run time of approx 130 minutes, it feels dragged because of it,s narrative. Roohi scenes are scary but these scenes are few. The screenplay of the movie is average and does not make the film interesting at all instead makes it very predictive for the audience about the upcoming scenes.

The director of the film, Hardik Mehta has tried to make a nice film. Initially, he sets up environment pretty well but even his execution is just mediocre as film progresses. Furthermore the dialogues of the film are not funny and sometimes makes no sense. Overall, Roohi falls too short of the expectations. Major step-down from Stree as the film is presented in the same horror universe. Neither humour nor horror.

CAST PERFORMANCES:

As far as the performances are concerned, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma are excellent. Their chemistry and comic timing is previous performances. She has done a good job playing two different amazing but nevertheless, writing doesn’t do any justice to their characters. Janhvi Kapoor doesn’t have too many dialogues but one can see that she has improved from her shades.
